Dancing Together sessions are a way for community to come together not only to enjoy beautiful forms of dance, but to also learn respectful ways of being with ourselves, each other, and with this land. We would like to express deep gratitude to the Lekwungen People who have been dancing here since time immemorial.

Dancing Together = all genders, all mobilities, all ages, queer-friendly, community social dance. Dancing Together brings together people with diverse genders & sexualities, people of diverse backgrounds, and people with diverse ways of moving, as well as friends, family and supportive people.

The next session will be Saturday May 27th at 3:30pm-5:30pm in the Quadra Village neighbourhood. From Kemi: “Join me to learn how to dance the Electric Slide! A popular soul line dance from my childhood that is still going strong, this dance promotes community, inclusion and self expression!” There will also be some social dance time (to practice the moves just learned and/or freestyle dancing). Starting in September the aim is to have sessions once every couple of months, on Saturdays, sometimes in the afternoon (from 3:30pm-5:30pm) and sometimes in the evening (7:00pm-9:00pm), so that people with different schedules can attend. This Spring an organizing collective has come together and has been spending time setting up details for future sessions and how we would like to work together; we apologize that sessions this Spring have been less frequent than originally intended.
